Mental Health professionals declare Trump is mentally ill and must be removed from office. Scientologists reject psychiatry. Do you too?

Drs. John Gartner and Lance Dodes say Trump is a Paranoid Psychopathic Narcissist. He has a loose grip on reality and rejects any aspect of it he doesn't like. Reality is fluid to him. It is a worst-case scenario. Trump appeared sane enough to be elected. Had he worn tin foil hats and appeared naked in public he never would have been a candidate for prez let alone elected. These two doctors and other mental health professionals believe it is THEIR DUTY to warn us. That duty far outweighs the ordinary reticence any doctor has about diagnosing from afar. They said it is the behavior and informants who validate the diagnosis.  This is serious stuff folks. Trump supporters don't see him that way. I don't know how they cannot but they do not. So do we heed the warning of mental professionals or write them off as political theater/partisanship/grandstanding/jealousy and ignore them? How much of a gambler are you?

The point is moot, Rosie. He'll be impeached, I'd bet my house on it.

By whom? They don't have the cajones.  All of them rolled over because they're scared sh**less of him. Well except for John McCain. Who is gonna do it? They are already so far up his a** they can't see daylight! I dunno. I think  impeachment will be a very difficult thing to do with a fraidy cat congress and a fraidy cat senate. I see no heroes there anywhere. Could I be wrong? I often am. Thank you for your reply Sbf!  :).

    Grounds for impeachment:
    1) Emoluments. He's made no serious attemp to distance himself from his overseas business interests (note that the travel ban didn't include Arab nations that Trump does business with). He receives personal gain from foreign sources, emoluments by definition and thus his presidency is unconstitutional.
    2) Close ties with Vladimir Putin. Russia still has nukes pointed at the USA. He's walking a thin line between friendly foreign relations and treason.
    3) The impending trial over racketeering at Trump U. That's a class one felony. He managed to wiggle out of the civil fraud suit by throwing a bucket of money at it, but this is a criminal matter, it's harder  to make that go away.
    4) His obdurate and obstinate refusal to make his tax returns public. What is he hiding?
    5) Outright lies. Bowling Green, Atlanta, Sweden. The "terrorist attacks" just didn't happen.
    6) Deleting tweets. Those come under the Presidential Records Act, controlled by the National Archive.
    7) Conduct unbecoming a President - he behaves like a toddler when somebody tells him "no", throwing a tantrum. It might be more difficult to make that one stick.

Thank you for your thoughtful and in-depth analysis my friend. I appreciate it. Here's my question to you. Who/what will enforce any of the above? Our Justice Department is headed by Jeffrey Beauregard Sessions. Do you really think he has the courage/desire to stand up to The Donald?  Congress has to vote to impeach. They are all scared sh**less of The  Donald who is vicious/vindictive/paranoid/psychopathic/narcissistic. The last 3 words are the conclusions of mental health professionals. The Donald puts more passion and energy into getting back at than he does anything else. All the toadies are spineless. His worshippers are powerless to do anything even if they could wake up and smell the coffee which they can't/won't. To them The Donald walks on water and will perform miracles for them. They are not about to abandon their saviour. So who is going to be the Knight in Shining armor who has the power/authority to come to our rescue and relieve us of our albatross? We got nuthin'. No one. What am I missing? What have I over looked?  Happy Friday Sbf! :)

Psychiatry is pseudoscience. It's completely subjective.

Their comments are so obviously politically motivated.

They must suffer from narcissistic personality disorder themselves to think their comments would change anyone's mind. This post was edited by Zeitgeist at February 23, 2017 6:51 AM MST

    You should stop talking.
    About anything, you know?

It is subjective. Real science has objective tests that objectively measure reality. Psychiatry is just opinion. They don't measure people's brain chemistry etc etc.

Psychiatry is a scam to declare as much of the population abnormal as possible so big pharma can make money medicating them. Objective medical problems have a limited market. The psych market is potentially 100% of the population if people are stupid enough to listen to pseudo intellectual ****s.

  • They don't take into consideration brain chemistry?
    Really dude?
Seriously, some people should just not talk anymore.
    About anything.
And I say some people to see if the comment survives censorship. But I mean you.

You lack the intelligence to have the conversation. Anyone with half a brain would have googled what I said and found it to be true.

  • Is that why you googled it?

I didn't need to because I have a background in the biological sciences.

When I'm debating something I don't know much about and someone makes a claim I find doubtful, I google it. In your place I would have tried to find an objective test like a brain scanner, blood test etc etc, that psychiatrists use to diagnose disorders. I would have found nothing, realized I was wrong, and avoided looking like a f***ing idiot. This post was edited by Zeitgeist at February 22, 2017 12:21 PM MST

Wow, I haven't run into anyone with your level of understanding of psychiatry and brain chemistry since the 1800's....

Glad to know they're not all extinct....

Last time I laughed this hard was at one particular atheist on blurtit----not because he was an atheist, but because he just couldn't understand the limitations he brought to the discussions....

You replied above to one answer that the person in question did not have the "intelligence to have the conversation."...

It is said that we quickly recognize the qualities in others that we ourselves possess....

Best unintentional example of  Q.E.D I've seen in a long time.

  • Odd that you cite objective testing when - in previous replies to equally previous questions - you have dismissed such as a liberal conspiracy.
And demeaning another person's intelligence based on your own exceedingly prescribed objectivity is like a receiving an insult from a performing chimp.

  • I don't think that's going to make it.
You should have said performing C****.
    Wait a minute, disregard that.
    I think that's actually worse.
It really irks me when some people, with no knowledge or experience, talk about Psychiatry and Psychology being bunk.
And base their erudition on Google or on their opinions as an airplane builder.
It almost makes me wish that they were in need of the treatment they so authoritatively dismiss. Almost. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 22, 2017 1:21 PM MST

  • If I irk you then you are more than welcome to make a counter-point that shows a flaw in what was said.  Any proofs, facts, or reason is welcome.

I wouldn't mind any proof that psychology is scientific or can possibly follow the scientific method. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 22, 2017 1:13 PM MST

  • You're confusing psychiatry with psychology.

Psychiatry tries to find clear differences and cause to how people's mind works.  Psychology is the pseudo-science  that uses conjecture to make scientific claims but fails at being scientific because there is no possibility of a control.  It's based on conjecture of what someone "thinks'  a person should be.
Sure psychiatry has some severe flaws like the assumption that SSRI's help with a brain chemical imbalance even though there is no tangible evidence to support it and no one can say how much of any neuro-transmitter  a healthy person is supposed to have.  Various levels  in various people  can yield disorders or healthy thinking in different individuals. • If it is then it's the truth, however I don't think it was.  Psychiatry isn't a pseudo-science it's just still in it's infancy.

Psychology on the otherhand is about as scientific as alchemy and is pure woo.
